During the summer of 2021 my husband and I were struggling with how to celebrate our son's 11th birthday. Because of COVID restrictions, a party wasn't a possibility. We discussed several options but couldn't zero in on anything that seemed just right, so we asked our son if he had any ideas. The three of us had a lengthy conversation, in which our son told us that he prefers experiences rather than material possessions. We asked him to list his top three experiences. To our surprise, fishing was on the top of his list. We had ventured out on fishing trips in the past on our friend's boat on Fish Lake in Leavenworth, Washington, where we had fun times catching rainbow trout.

For years we discussed buying a boat, so maybe this was the time to take the plunge. All three of us enjoy fishing, but had never dropped a lure or crab pot in Puget Sound. It seemed like a logical location to dock our boat and fish, since it's close enough to our home. After researching boats that would suit our lifestyle, we made the decision to buy.

We really enjoy boating with the entire family. Each time we fish, we pull up a new type of sea creature, which has attached itself to our lines that we've never seen before. I've taken pictures of most so that I can research once we arrive home. It's been a learning experience and thought it would be fun to document my findings.
