China Rockfish

China Rockfish

This is the first fish I caught in Puget Sound that was not a flounder! I was so excited to see something different and then thought, “wow, what did I catch.” Luckily we had a handy chart on board with common fish and it was listed. Who knew just how interesting bottom fish in Puget Sound could be. I read they are good to eat, then quickly discovered that we couldn’t keep, so back he went. The China rockfish can live to be over 70 years old, that’s a long time for a fish! They also like to eat shrimp, which is what I was using as bait.
